EquiSciTrack was established in 2024 for postdocs on the academic job market.

Securing an academic research position should not require privileged access to unwritten rules.

Yet, navigating a faculty job search - from applications to interviews to negotiations - typically happens through word-of-mouth rather than formal guidelines. As former postdocs preparing for independent academic careers, we (Brisa & Lydia) experienced firsthand how difficult it could be to find clear, practical advice. And we benefited tremendously from the perspectives of our colleagues who had secured positions before us.

We founded EquiSciTrack to make the faculty hiring process more transparent and accessible. EquiSciTrack is an interactive webinar series featuring recently hired faculty in the US who share their experiences, practical advice, and lessons learned while navigating the transition from trainee to principal investigator. Our panelists, junior faculty who have recently completed job searches, provide timely insights on preparing application materials, interviewing, and evaluating faculty offers.

Our goal is simple: to create an open forum for prospective faculty to learn about each step where trainees can ask candid questions, hear diverse perspectives, and gain a clearer understanding of the faculty job search.

By sharing experiences openly and honestly, we aim to demystify the path to an academic career and empower the next generation of scientists to pursue independence with greater confidence.
